Does Oxflare work completely without internet?

Yes! Our offline-first architecture allows you to sell, print receipts, accept M-Pesa payments, and manage inventory even when there's no internet connection. All data is stored locally in an encrypted database. When internet returns, the Smart Sync Engine automatically uploads all transactions to the cloud. You can operate offline for days or weeks without any interruption to your business.

How does M-Pesa integration work exactly?

We support three M-Pesa methods: 1) STK Push — customer receives payment prompt on their phone after entering number; 2) Till Number — display your Till for customer to pay manually; 3) Paybill — for larger businesses with Paybill accounts. All transactions are recorded in your POS and reconciled automatically against M-Pesa statements. Even offline, you can record M-Pesa payments received — they sync later.

Can I use my existing thermal printer?

Absolutely. Oxflare POS supports all major thermal receipt printer brands including Epson, Star Micronics, Citizen, and local Chinese models. Connection via USB, Ethernet, or Bluetooth. Printing works even in offline mode. You can customize receipt templates with your business logo, VAT details, and promotional messages.

Is my business data safe and secure?

Data security is our priority. All data is encrypted locally using AES-256 and transmitted over SSL/TLS to our cloud servers. We maintain daily automated backups. You also have the option to run Oxflare entirely on your local XAMPP server without cloud connectivity. For cloud users, we host on secure Kenyan and international servers with 99.9% uptime.

How does the sync engine work exactly?

Our proprietary Smart Sync Engine uses a conflict-free replicated data type (CRDT) architecture. Every offline transaction gets a unique ID and timestamp. When internet returns, the system performs a bidirectional sync with the cloud, resolving any conflicts intelligently. You never lose data or experience duplicate entries. The entire process is automatic and requires no user intervention.

What about tax compliance and eTIMS?
